Here we go. This will wrap up the “worst interviews” segment I’ve been doing for a while in my blog.
I’ll be honest, I was hesitant to share this ‘cause I really do sound like a knob...but here we go.
I was doing an interview on a news/talk station many years ago with a gentleman who was talking about the risks of dumpsites in certain areas. The one problem with the gentleman is that he had a habit – a bad habit actually. Every few seconds while he was speaking, he would say “yeah, ok fine so.”
Here’s how it would sound:
Me: “In your book, you mention that even if a dumpsite is located away from urban areas, it still is risky for human life. Is there any safe place to put a dumpsite?”
Him: “Yeah, ok, fine so the point is that no, there is no good place for a dumpsite. Yeah, ok, fine so government officials think that yeah, ok, fine so they can put these sites far away from populated areas but yeah, ok, fine so that’s still risky because of chemicals leeching into the water supply. Yeah, ok, fine so.”
Now, I was ok for the first couple of minutes of the interview but after that, I started getting the giggles every time he would say “yeah, ok, fine so.” It got to be so bad that at points, I had to turn off my microphone ‘cause you’d have heard me laughing on air if I left it on.
I did cut the interview a little short because I knew it was getting to the point where I could not even talk anymore.
I’ve listened to the tape of this interview a few times since then and it’s definitely one of my better bloopers.
Yeah, ok, fine so.
