Today's K-Tel Classic was a song called "65 Love Affair" by Paul Davis.
I have to share my high school memories about this song. In theatre arts class, everyone had to do an interpretive dance to a song. Now, I am not the most graceful dancer in the world and I dreaded this assignment.
My best friend at the time convinced me to dance to "65 Love Affair." I thought, sure, why not. I planned to jump around a lot and also act out some of the dances that John Travolta did in Saturday Night Fever.
Yes, I was thinking I would look like a knob but I was still fine with my decision until the day came when the class was presenting their interpretive dance. EVERYONE had chosen classical music or opera to 'dance' to. I was the only one who chose something a little more "contemporary.'
Yes, I was a little concerned when I went on stage but afterwards I did receive applause and a very good mark as well. The teacher even became very "Paula Abdulish" saying that I had made the song my own and that I had a unique dancing style.
Hearing "65 Love Affair" still has me flashing back to that amazing (?) dance sequence. Lucky for me, it was never videotaped.
So, it’s time for a few days off for me.
…which is a good thing. Time to relax and sleep a lot at home...or at least sleep beyond 3 am.
Yes, that’s how I spend all my holidays and just the way I like it.
I’ll talk to you on Wednesday…and remember…wear purple.
